Brewers right-hander Kyle Lohse (Nomlaki Tribe) has a sprained right ankle, and, as’s Adam McCalvy writes, he won’t be able to make his next scheduled start against the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Instead, Mike Fiers will take the mound for Milwaukee. Manager Ron Roenicke says he’s not sure when Lohse will be ready to take his turn again.

This season, Lohse, 35, has pitched to a 3.49 ERA (106 ERA+) and a K/BB ratio of 3.35. His 159 2/3 innings rank 10th in the NL. In 2012, Lohse, then with the Cardinals, finished seventh in the NL Cy Young balloting.

He’s in the second year of a three-year, $33-million contract that’s thus far proved to be a very wise investment for the Brewers.
