RICHMOND, Ky. — Madeline Castillo placed 15th in 18:39.7 in the women’s 5K at the ASUN Cross Country Championships on Friday at The University Club at Arlington, helping North Florida to a runner-up team finish.
Castillo was the Ospreys’ third finisher, behind freshman Katelyn O’Brien (12th, 18:30.1) and freshman Sophia Aldridge (14th, 18:38.3).
North Florida totaled 65 points for second in the eight-team field, behind champion Lipscomb (15 points) and ahead of third-place Florida Gulf Coast (92).
The Ospreys put seven runners inside the top 25, with Isabella Heideman 24th in 19:16.3 rounding out that group.
Castillo, a junior, has been one of UNF’s most consistent front-runners this fall — she led the Ospreys at the Joe Handelman Fall Classic earlier this month, finishing 26th in 21:50.7.
North Florida continues its season at the NCAA South Regional Championship on Nov. 13 in Tallahassee, Fla.
