Yellow Jackets Sweep Gilliette College Invitational; Kendall Murie (Chippewa/Cree) Finishes 3rd Overall

GILLETTE, Wyo. – Alec Baldwin’s victory paced the Black Hills State University men’s cross country team to the Gillette College Invitational team title while Becca Ellis had a second place showing to help the women’s team to the team title.

It is the first time this year that both squads swept a meet.

Baldwin won the race in 25:24 while the Yellow Jackets gathered 33 team points as Kendall Murie (Chippewa/Cree) placed third in 26:27. Josh Davis crossed the finish line seventh in 26:56. Aaron Schone and Nathan Fredrick placed 11th and 13th, respectively.

The Yellow Jackets defeated Gillette College, who had 44 points and South Dakota Mines with 57 points. Central Wyoming College was also at the meet and scored 103 points.

Black Hills State returns to the course Saturday, November 8, for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships in Gunnison, Colorado.
