Position players officially report on Saturday but Jacoby Ellsbury will be a day or two late according to Girardi. Ellsbury’s wife was due to give birth on Friday. Ellsbury is entering the fourth year of his seven-year, $153 million contract, a period marked by under-performance and occasional injuries. “I still think that there’s more in the tank with Jacoby Ellsbury for us,” GM Brian Cashman said this week. Cashman cited Ellsbury’s success in Boston and the flashes he’s shown during hot streaks in pinstripes. “Hopefully, we’ll see in 2017 more of that, just like we need to see more of that from others on our roster.”
