UC-Irvine Places 11th at Stanford Invite; Isiah Thompson (San Pasqual) Finished 23rd for Anteaters

STANFORD, Calif. — UC Irvine senior Alex Tebbe led the Anteaters at the 41st Stanford Invitational Saturday.

Tebbe finished 11th in the NCAA Division I scoring with a time of 24:02 over 8,000 meters on the Stanford Golf Course to lead the UCI runners for the third straight meet.

Isaiah Thompson (San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians) placed 23rd in 24:32, Munir Kahssay was 67th in 25:25 and Matt Neev 69th in 25:27. Rounding out UCI’s top seven were Nolan Del Valle in 91st place (25:56), Blake Wanser 105th (26:31) and Jake Williams 115th (27:04).

Joe Rosa of Stanford won the race with a time of 23:16.

The ‘Eaters placed 11th in the team competition with 261 points. Washington State won the meet with 73 points, UC Santa Barbara was second with 74 and Stanford third with 75.

UCI returns to action Oct. 11 in the Vanguard Invitational at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.
