Rickie Fowler (Navajo) Poised for Success in 2015 PGA Tour Season

Despite finishing the 2013-2014 season with a disappointing loss in the Ryder Cup with Team USA, Rickie Fowler’s (Navajo) season won’t be defined by his (0-2-3) record at Glenaagles in Scotland. In fact, Rickie’s record was one of the positives to come out of this year’s Ryder Cup as his score and the younger generation of golfers fared well in a few matches. Rickie was tasked with going against some of Europe’s toughest pairings and against the number  one player in the world Rory McIlroy on Sunday, a tall order for anyone on the USA squad.

What Rickie will take from this season is that he moved ranked 40th in the world at the end of last season and moved all the way to be currently ranked the 10th best player in the world at the moment. A lot of that had to do with the fact that Rickie this season was the only player to finish in the top five in all four major championships this season, nearly winning the US Open and OPEN Championships. A feat that only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have done in the history of the PGA Tour. Rickie said, “[I’m] disappointed to come up short, but like I said to look back on the full year and all four majors, definitely something to be proud of,” per Jay Coffin of Golf Channel.

Fowler also finished inside the top 10 in seven of eight tournaments this past season. He has been working with world renown swing coach Butch Harmon who has completely retooled  his swing which has improved driving distance and increased his greens in regulation percentage. When you hit more fairways and greens on the PGA Tour, that just means you are giving yourself more chances to score low on a consistent basis and that is something all professional golvers are trying to achieve.

Fowler is poised to capitalize on his experiences in the majors this season and hopefully win one if not a few more major championships.

The PGA Tour takes a week off and the new season begins on October 6th with the the Frys.com Open in Napa, California.
