Texas Tech’s Gabby Barker (Shoshone-Paiute) earns First Team Honors for the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team

IRVING, Texas – Texas Tech women’s golf  had four student-athletes honored as members of the 2017 Academic All-Big 12 golf teams, the league office announced on Tuesday.

On the women’s side, Mami Yamamoto, Gabby Barker (Shoshone-Paiute) and Lauren Mason earned first team honors, and Cara Barker was named to the second team. This is the second-straight first team honor for Mason.

The team is comprised of 41 men’s golf honorees (36 first team and five second team), along with 36 women’s golf selections (34 first team and two second team) for a total of 70 combined first team honorees. The 77 combined honorees are the most on the Academic All-Big 12 Golf Team since 2011, when the team featured 85 student-athletes.

First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections have recorded a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

The Lady Raiders will be in San Antonio this weekend, April 21-23, for the Big 12 Championship, and the men will be in Hutchinson, Kan., April 24-26, for their Big 12 Championship.
