Summer Lietka (Seminole) Named Pitcher-of-the-Year by Sooner Athletic Conference

The Sooner Athletic Conference has announced its 2015 all-conference softball team and top individual awards. The team was voted on by the league’s eight softball coaches. The league’s top two pitchers Abby Meador of Oklahoma City and Summer Leitka (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma) of Science & Arts took home the top individual honors.

Meador, a freshman pitcher from Midwest City, Okla. was voted the Player-of-the-Year. She went 25-3 on the mound with a 1.19 ERA. She struck out 217 batters in 153 innings pitched. She was named the SAC Pitcher-of-the-Week four times this season.

Leitka, a sophomore pitcher from Norman, Okla., was a weekly winner five times on the season and earned a NAIA  National Pitcher of the Week honor as well. She currently has a 30-3 record with a 1.14 ERA. She has struck out 302 batters in 228 innings. She was voted SAC Pitcher-of-the-Year for the SAC.

Newcomer-of-the-Year: Ashli Hafford, St. Gregory’s
Freshman-of-the-Year: Carrie Abrams, Oklahoma Baptist
Coach-of-the-Year: Phil McSpadden, Oklahoma City
