Skyhawks Place 4th at Adams State’s Joe Vigil Open; Christian Gering (San Felipe Pueblo) Places 10th

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Competing in their first race of the season, the Fort Lewis College men’s and women’s teams placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at the Adams State University Joe Vigil Open in Alamosa, Colo.

The Skyhawks men’s team earned 94 points in the 8K race.  Christian Gering, who qualified for the NCAA Championship last season as an individual, led the Skyhawks with a time of 26:39.82 for a 10th place finish.  Tate Lagasca finished 19th overall and second for FLC with a time of 27:37.91.  Thirteen seconds behind Lagasca was Joey Brenner, followed by Michael Walker (22nd, 28:05.44) and Derek Laue (23rd, 28:12.90).  Also competing for the Skyhawks were Joseph Spinelli (24th, 28:19.32), William Scoggins (25th, 28:25.05), Zach Chenoweth (37th, 29:58.28) and Robert Clah (41st, 32:50.64).

Adams State won the four team competition with a perfect 15 points.  Colorado Mesa came in second with 56 points followed by Eastern New Mexico with 89 points.  The Grizzlies Kevin Batt led all 41 runners with a time of 25:20.74.
