San Jose Earthquakes’ Chris Wondolowski (Kiowa Tribe) closing in on top-4 on MLS all-time scoring chart

Year after year, Chris Wondolowski just can’t stop scoring.

The Earthquakes forward opened 2016 with another goal, heading home the game-winner in San Jose’s 1-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Sunday. He’s aiming to extend his record of scoring at least 10 goals for the season — something he’s done six-straight years.

He’s also coming closer to moving up yet again on MLS’s all-time scoring chart.

If Wondolowski scores five more goals, he’ll reach 115 for his career during the MLS regular season, and will surpass Ante Razov for No. 4 all-time. Wondolowski is the only active player currently in the top-10 of the league’s scoring chart.

Here’s the current top-five, with stats through Sunday:

Player Games Played Goals
Landon Donovan 334 144
Jeff Cunningham 365 134
Jaime Moreno 340 133
Ante Razov 262 114
Chris Wondolowski 230 110

Will Wondo surpass Razov this season? Will he climb even higher before his career is done? It’ll be one of the big storylines this season and beyond.
