The Seattle Mariners and EQC are joining together to honor the heritage and culture of Native Americans, primarily those of the Pacific Northwest. Native American Night at Safeco Field, presented by EQC, will be held on Tuesday, August 26, when the Mariners take on the Texas Rangers. Game time is 7:10 p.m.

The first 10,000 fans 21 and over will receive a Mariners cap courtesy of EQC.

Native American Night pre-game activities include a performance by the Puyallup Tribe and Puget Sound Canoe Families who are canoe builders, artists, musicians, dancers and singers.

Pacific Northwest native peoples are members of Puget Salish tribes whose ancestral home is located along the shores of Puget Sound. Today, there are 19 different Puget Salish tribes.

Music and dance are an important part of tribal community events such as intertribal canoe gatherings which feature storytelling and traditional performances.
