Kayla Herrera (Chippewa) finished with 14 points, three assists and two steals as Skyhawks Fall at Home, 63-61

DURANGO, Colo. – February 3, 2018 – The Colorado State University-Pueblo women’s basketball team handed Fort Lewis College their first loss at home this season Saturday night.  The Skyhawks fell, 63-61, moving their record to 18-5 overall and 12-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (13-1 home record).

Trailing by five points at halftime (31-26), FLC outscored the Pack (17-6, 15-2 RMAC) in the third quarter, 23-13, after shooting 63.6 percent from the floor (7-of-11).

FLC led by seven points, 55-48, with 5:54 left in the game, but were outscored 15-6 the remainder of the game.  The ThunderWolves Tuileisu Anderson and Katie Cunningham combined to score all 15 points for CSUP.  Anderson, who finished with a game high 22 points, netted nine points in the final 5:54.

Vivian Gray scored eight of her 20 points from the free throw line.  She added 11 rebounds, three blocked shots and two assists.

Astrea Reed sank 5-of-16 field goals as part of her 15 points.  Kayla Herrera (Chippewa) finished with 14 points, three assists and two steals.

The Skyhawks shot 32.8 percent from the floor after making 19-of-58.  FLC attempted 12 more free throws than the ThunderWolves, and finished making 19-of-24 (79.2 percent).

Fort Lewis held a 45-36 rebounding advantage and out-scored the Pack on second chance points, 13-0.

The Skyhawks will play their next four games away from home, beginning Feb. 9-10 against Western State and Colorado Mesa.  Both games will start at 5:30 p.m.
