Fifty years ago this October, Billy Mills achieved his dream of winning Olympic gold in the 10,000 meter race in Tokyo.

Run With Billy

release

50 years ago Billy Mills stunned the world and beat the odds to win a gold medal in the 10,000 meter race at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. This year we celebrate Billy’s dream come true–and all the work he has done to support the dreams of American Indian youth.

Billy Mills and Running Strong for American Indian Youth® want you join the celebration for the 50th Anniversary of Billy’s gold medal run by dedicating your own run to him during October.  Here’s how:

  • Get out there and run (or walk). You can join a race or dedicate your morning jog – it’s up to you.
  • Download the “I Run with Billy” image and let your friends and family know that you run with Billy by sharing the image on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Make sure to tag Billy Mills and Running Strong in your posts and include the hashtag #BillysDream50.
  • The first 500 runners who donate at least $50 will receive a limited edition anniversary running bib autographed by Billy Mills – take a photo of yourself with your Billy Mills running bib and post it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Make sure to tag Billy Mills and Running Strong in your posts and include the hashtag #BillysDream50.
