David Michaud (Oglala-Lakota) drops to lightweight, meets Garett Whiteley at UFC on FOX 13

The UFC’s final FOX card of 2014 continues to grow with the addition of a new lightweight bout.

David Michaud , Oglala-Lakota Nation, (8-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) will drop from welterweight to 155 pounds to meet Garett Whiteley (7-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) at UFC on FOX 13. Promotion officials recently announced the new matchup.

UFC on FOX 13 takes place Dec. 13 at U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Michaud made his UFC debut in May, but dropped a split decision to Li Jingliang at UFC 173 for the first setback of his professional career. Before that, the 25-year-old South Dakotan had started 7-0 with six stoppage wins.

Whiteley will be looking for his first UFC victory, as well. After starting 7-0 on the regional scene with seven stoppages, he signed with the UFC, but was stopped in the first round by Alan Patrick a year ago in Brazil. In January at UFC Fight Night 35, he dropped unanimous decision to Vinc Pichel.
