Cleveland Indians RHP Joba Chamberlain(Winnebago Tribe) declined his Triple-A assignment and is now a free agent

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Indians RHP Joba Chamberlain (Winnebago Tribe) was released by Cleveland today and became a free agent.

The Indians were forced to make a hard decision on Chamberlain, recently designating him for assignment. He then declined to head to Triple-A, resulting in his release. He’s been solid this season, posting an ERA and WHIP of 2.25 and 1.15 with 18 strikeouts in 20 innings, though he has dealt with injury. He will likely join another team after the All-Star break.

Any team is free to sign the 30 year old pitcher who has spent time with the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, and Cleveland Indians organizations the past two seasons.
