Milan Schimmel (Umatilla) posted 20 points and a season-high 18 rebounds in Eastern Florida’s Win over Hillsborough CC

The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in the Suncoast Conference with a road win Wednesday night.

The No. 24-ranked Titans, who are 16-4 overall, defeated Hillsborough Community College 90-76 Wednesday night to set up a matchup with Florida Southwestern Saturday afternoon for first place in the conference at Titan Field House.

After the Titans headed to the second quarter with a 22-17 lead, Hillsborough came out on a 5-0 run to tie the game. The teams would trade baskets for a couple minutes but tied 26-26 with 6:45 remaining in the quarter, the Titans went on a 10-3 run and went into the locker room up 15, 47-32 at halftime.

Milan Schimmel (Umatilla) and Jacquelyn Levay paced the Titans, both posting season highs in the game. Schimmel posted her third double-double of the season with 20 points and a season-high 18 rebounds.

Levay hit 6 3-pointers to score a season-high 21 points in the game. Skye Williams finished with 19 points and Zahria Jenkins also had a season high, finishing with 11 points and eight rebounds.
