Wondolowski Scores as MLS All-Stars defeat European Champions

(Philadelphia, PA) – European Champions League winners Chelsea suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat to the Major League Soccer all-star team in an exhibition game on Wednesday evening, thanks to a late goal from Eddie Johnson.

Johnson was the hero with the winning strike in the 91st minute with Chris Wondolowski and Chris Pontius also scoring for the all-stars, and John Terry and Frank Lampard scoring for Chelsea.

Wondolowski, of the Kiowa Tribe, scored in the 21st minute of the the game and as made the goal look routine in typical “Wondo” style. He is also the current scoring leader for the MLS and going for his third straight scoring title once he resumes his duties back with the San Jose Earthquakes. Wondo was also the top vote-getter for this year’s all-star team, winning in all three categories of voting which included league voting, sports writers, and fan voting.

The MLS All-Stars won for the first time since 2008.
