Washington Huskies’ SilentRain Espinoza (Kumeyaay Tribe) was named the Freshman of the Week by the Pac-12 Conference

SAN FRANCISCO – SilentRain Espinoza (Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians) was named the Freshman of the Week by the Pac-12 Conference today. It was the first such honor of Espinoza’s career and the second week in a row that Washington has had the conference’s Freshman of the Week.

Espinoza hit .429/.467/.643 for the Huskies over four games last week, all starts. In addition to her first career home run, against BYU, Espinoza scored six runs and drove in six more. She had hits in every game, including two multi-hit games, to build a career-best four-game hitting streak.

This is the second Freshman of the Week honor for the Huskies this year. Madison Huskey also earned Freshman of the Week this season. Espinoza joins Huskey, Gabbie Plain, Taran Alvelo, and Morganne Flores as active Huskies with at least one Freshman of the Week award in their career.
