VCSU’s Richard Langdeaux (Rosebud Sioux) Qualifies for National Championships

Valley City State University senior Richard Langdeaux (Rosebud Sioux) has qualified of the NAIA National Cross Country Championships, the national office announced Monday.

Langdeaux will compete as an individual at the meet. He was one of two runners from the NSAA/Frontier Conference grouping to make it as an individual. The national office announced the list of national qualifiers on Monday afternoon.

National Qualifier List

Langdeaux took 13th place overall at the NSAA/Frontier Conference national qualifying meet Friday, finishing only behind runners from Carroll College and Lewis-Clark, which are both ranked in the Top 15 of NAIA cross country.

Langdeaux was the top North Star finisher at the meet, earning an individual conference championship with his time of 26:41.

Six different Vikings finished in the NSAA Top 10 at the meet, earning All Conference status. Langdeaux (1st), Malik Jackson (7th), Misael Herrera (9th) and Joshua Avila (10th) earned All Conference for the men’s team. Monica Madavi (5th) and Alexandra Cardenas (10th) were named All Conference on the women’s team.

The NAIA cross country championships take place Nov. 22 in Lawrence, Kan. Langdeaux also competed at the national meet last season as part of the VCSU men’s team that qualified.
