UC-Irvine’s Isaiah Thompson (San Pasqual Tribe) Top Collegiate Finisher as ‘Eaters Win Title at Highlander Invitational

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — UC Irvine won the title of the Highlander Invitational Saturday morning, marking the team’s third meet victory of the season.

The Anteaters had five runners in the top 10 to win the team title with 30 points.  Cal State Fullerton was second with 51 and UC Riverside third with 69 points.

UCI senior Isaiah Thompson (San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians) was the top collegiate finisher and second overall with a time of 17:56.33 over 6,000 meters at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course.

Izzak Mireles was sixth in 18:09.56, Hector Garcia finished eighth (18:15.90), Nolan Del Valle ninth (18:17.17) and Branden Randall 10th (18:17.97).

Rounding out UCI’s top seven were Eric Lawver in 17th place (18:29.41) and Ashton Garcia 18th (18:34.00).

Seth Totten, an unattached runner, won the race in 17:47.99.

UCI prepares for the Big West Conference Championships Oct. 29 at the Kahuku Golf Course in Kahuku, Hawai’i.
