Tiana Dockery (Navajo) has 8 Kills as No. 9 Kansas Advances to Elite Eight in NCAA Tourney

SAN DIEGO – Kansas volleyball has made history.

The 9th-ranked Jayhawks defeated Loyola Marymount, 3-1 (25-19, 25-11, 21-25, 25-13), on Friday night at Jenny Craig Pavilion to advance to the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Regional Final or “Elite Eight.”

Sophomore right-side hitter Kelsie Payne led the Jayhawks with 21 kills on a .400 hitting percentage. Junior middle blocker Tayler Soucie recorded 12 blocks and junior libero Cassie Wait posted 23 digs as Kansas held Loyola Marymount to a .050 hitting percentage. Senior Outside Hitter Tiana Dockery (Navajo) had 8 Kills and 10 Digs for the Jayhawks.

Kansas bounced back from a 25-13 third-set loss to finish the match with 16 kills on a .484 hitting percentage.

KU’s 15 blocks are a season high and the most since recording 20.5 against Oklahoma on Nov. 29, 2014.
