Summer Leitka (Seminole Nation) Named to 2015 NAIA All-American First Team; Also Named to National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region team

CHICKASHA – With the Drovers making it to their first NAIA National Championship tournament in more than a decade, three players were named to the 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region team.

Star pitcher Summer Leitka (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma) was named First Team Pitcher while outfielder Kaylin Taylor was named First Team Alternate.

Senior catcher Kayla Adams was named to the Second Team to round out the players recognized by the organization.

“I’m so proud of my NFCAA All-Region players they work hard for this accolade,” Drover Head Coach Jadyn Wallis said. “As a coach, I take so much pride in the way the represent USAO softball.”

Leitka was the ace on the pitching staff for USAO and broke several school records, including season strikeouts with 321 and wins 31 wins in her first season as a Drover also a record.

She was named Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week six times and the NAIA Pitcher of the Week once, while being named the SAC Pitcher of the Year and All-Conference First Team.

Leitka is an American Indian studies sophomore from Norman and the daughter of Sonny and Kathy Leitka.

Also, today it was announced by the NAIA that Summer was also named to the 2015 NAIA Softball All-America First Team. Summer is the only Dover to be named an All-American.
