Stailee Heard (Seneca/SacFox/Mvskoke) Set a New Career High of 23 Points as Oklahoma State Falls to Oregon

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team saw its five-game win streak come to an end at the hands of Oregon, 70-63, Thursday afternoon in St. George, Utah.

The Cowgirls fall to 7-4 with the loss, suffering their first setback since Nov. 22 against Ohio State in The Bahamas. OSU will get an extended holiday break before opening its Big 12 slate against Iowa State at home on Dec. 30.

Stailee Heard led all scorers with 23 points, setting a new career high, while grabbing eight rebounds. The freshman was the only Cowgirl to finish in double figures.

Oklahoma State struggled to score early in the game, managing just two points until the 3:34 mark of the first quarter. The Cowgirls scored six points in the remainder of the period but would end the frame trailing 16-8.

The second quarter began with another run by the Ducks, culminating in their largest lead of the half at 26-11. The Cowgirls responded, however, going on a 10-0 run to get back into the ballgame and would head into the half down by eight.

Oregon took control of the game once again to open the second half, going up by 17 midway through the third quarter. OSU once again put together a run, though, beating the Ducks 14-3 to close the period, with back-to-back threes from Lior Garzon giving the Cowgirls momentum heading into the fourth.

The final frame was close throughout, with OSU even managing to tie the game at 62 on a Praise Egharevba basket with 3:22 to go. Oregon would score the next six points, however, while the Cowgirls could manage only a free throw in the remainder of the game as they fell to the Ducks, 70-63.

Oklahoma State shot just 33% from the field, matching their worst shooting game of the season. The Cowgirls out-rebounded the Ducks by two, however, including a 15-7 advantage on the offensive glass.
