Sequoia Wheeler (Nez Perce Tribe) led the Multnomah Lions with 24 points in 54-53 Win over Northwest Christian

EUGENE – Midway through the season, the Multnomah University women’s basketball team already set a program record for most wins in a season as they defeated Northwest Christian 54-53 on the road for their second straight Cascade Conference win.

GAME SUMMARY:

  • After finishing the first quarter even with the Beacons, Multnomah outscored NCU 20-10 in the second quarter to take a 31-21 advantage into halftime.
  • The Lions shot 31 percent on the night, including a 39 percent (7-of-18) from the three-point line, while holding their opponent to a mark of 26 percent from the field.
  • NCU stormed back in the third quarter, taking a three-point lead into the final quarter.
  • Down by seven, MU fought back to cut the lead to one point, trailing 53-52.
  • The Lions locked down on defense, holding the Beacons scoreless through the final four minutes of the game before Erykah Campbell knocked down the winning free throws in the final 10 seconds.
