Seanna Boltz (Oglala Lakota) Finishes with 20 Points for Cowley CC in 88-54 Win over Northwest Kansas Technical College

After three straight close defeats, the Cowley College women’s basketball team made sure Saturday’s home game against Northwest Kansas Tech did not come down to the final minutes of play as they blasted the Lady Mavericks’ 88-54.

Cowley scored inside and out as they shot 50.8 percent from the floor and went 11-of-24 from three-point range. The Lady Tigers also out-rebounded the Lady Mavericks 53-29

“We played a complete game,” Cowley head coach Todd Clark said. “It was a really nice win for our team.”

The loss was the first of the season for the Lady Mavericks (3-1), while Cowley improves to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division.

Cowley led just 13-12 after one quarter of play and was clinging to a 23-20 advantage midway through the second quarter before scoring the final 13 points of the half.

“That run to close the half was key for us,” Clark said.

The Lady Tigers would score the first eight points of the second half and never looked back en route to the 34-point win.

Freshman Martyna Kowalska continued to be a force inside, finishing with a game-high 25 points and 14 rebounds on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor.

After missing the previous game due to injury, Lady Tiger sophomore Kalyne Daniels came off the bench to add 13 points and 10 rebounds.

“Kalyne and Martyna were huge for us,” Clark said.

After not getting off a three-point attempt in Wednesday’s 70-67 loss to Barton County, sophomore Seanna Boltz (Oglala Lakota) went 6-of-10 from three-point range and finished with 20 points.

“That is exactly what we need from Seanna,” Clark said.
