Robert Iron Shell (Sioux) betters his School Record in the 400m and Meets the NAIA “A” Standard for Nationals

The Chargers’ 4x800m squad stole the show at the Buena Vista Invitational, clocking a 7:52.04 in the event, bettering the NAIA “A” standard of 7:56.96 and the previous school record of 8:03.61.  The foursome of Joe Jackson, Tommy Thelen, Mitchell Schleis amd Kyle Lorenzen finished second, however, it was not the only bright spot for the Cliff.

Robert Iron Shell (Rosebud Sioux) remained unbeated in the 400m with a time of 49.50.  The time bettered his own school record and also met the NAIA “A” standard.  In the same event, Rusty Muncy finshed second with a time of 49.74, an NAIA “B” standard qualifying time.  Muncy won the long jump (6.98m), edging teammate Raheem Cowan (6.76m).  Mitchell Schleis continued to dominate the 800m with another victory after finishing in a time of 1:57.32, while Bryant Knigge won the pole vault after clearing 4.15m.  The Cliff’s 4x400m relay team (Muncy, Alan Gerdes, Iron Shell, Cowan) took home top honors with a 3:22.25 clocking.

Tascha Donnelly won the triple jump with a best bound of 10.75m, while Andrea Urban won the shot put with a toss of 12.70m.  Jackie Brungardt was third in the weight throw after a hurl of 13.37m, while Ashley Henkenius was third in the 200m (27.86) and Megan Aschoff was third in the 5,000m (23:31.17).
