RICH WINTERS: ST. Francis Indian School Young Guns Getting it Done

Mason Cordier of St. Francis Indian School gets a good start at last week’s Red Cloud Invitational. Only a 7th grader and running varsity for the first time, Cordier finished 12th and brought home a medal.

Love to see some young, fresh talent coming up from the St. Francis Indian School cross country program.

Head coach Totes Waln has done a great job in recent years bringing some life into that program and getting some numbers out and then getting some results.

At any rate, I don’t have complete results from the Red Cloud Invitational, but I do know that 12-year-old, 7th grader, Mason Cordier of St. Francis Indian School finished 12th in the Red Cloud Invitational last week.

That’s pretty heady stuff for a young man participating in cross-country for the first time in his life.

Of note, Cordier has some pretty good, young company around him.

8th grader Chase Boltz nearly qualified for the state meet last season and young-gun, Jacob Wike, despite looking angry in his photo that is included in this post is a hard worker that can only get better.

Keep an eye on this young bunch. As they get some more miles under their belt, they will likely get better and better.
