Rhiannon Nez (Navajo) Leads Rocky Volleyball with 10 Kills in Sweep of University of Providence

BILLINGS, Mont., Oct 8, 2022- Rocky Volleyball protected home court this weekend, after defeating Montana Western Friday night, the Battlin’ Bears defeated University of Providence 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-16) Saturday evening to improve to 4-1 in Frontier Conference play.

Rocky caught fire in the first set, rattling off eight straight points at one point to give themselves a 21-10 lead, eventually taking the set victory 25-18. Rhiannon Nez (Navajo) began with four kills and two blocks in the first set, as Taylor Wolf tallied five kills in the first set. 

Battlin’ Bears momentum continued into the second set as Rocky would take a commanding 25-14 set two victory. Without leaving much doubt, Rocky would finish things off in the third set on a Kyra Oakland kill to give Rocky a 3-0 victory.

Rhiannon Nez finished the match with 10 kills and four blocks to lead the Battlin’ Bears, Blythe Sealey ended with 34 assists, and Ayla Embry tallied 30 digs in the victory. 

The Argos were led by 12 kills by Zoe Naugle, 19 Bella Thompson assists, and 18 digs by Taylor Christensen. 

The Battlin’ Bears (11-11, 4-1 conf.) will travel to Des Moines, Iowa to participate in the Grand View Tournament next Friday, October 14th and Saturday, October 15th.
