Reagan Whitlow (Mvskoke Creek) put the Golden Hurricane on the board but Fall to Ole Miss, 2-1

The Tulsa women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Ole Miss on Sunday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  TU fell to 4-5-1 on the season, while the Rebels moved to 5-5 overall.

“I thought we played with a lot of heart and definitely battled,” Head Coach Kyle Cussen said.  “We had a great chance to tie it up with 10 seconds left on the clock and created chances in the second half that we’ve normally been putting away, so I was excited about the way we played and the heart we played with tonight.”

Reagan Whitlow (Muscogee Creek Nation) put the Golden Hurricane on the board with just 9:53 ticked off the clock as she punched in a pass from McKenzi McAdams from 10 yards out.

Gretchen Harknett evened the score in the 51st minute as she scored from 12 yards out off a cross from Addie Forbus, and then Forbus put the Rebels up 2-1 in the 61st minute for the final score.

Ole Miss had a 15-9 lead in shots, including a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal, while Tulsa had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Valiree Morris had a team-best three shots, while Tana Dake added two attempts and four others had one shot.  Courtney McKeon logged all 90 minutes between the posts and picked up eight saves.

Tulsa will have 11 days off and return to action on Thursday, September 29 at UConn in the American Athletic Conference opener.  Game time is set for 6:00 pm in Storrs, Conn.
