No. 23 Haskell Indian Nations University Women’s Basketball Improves to 19-5 with pair of Weekend Wins on the Road

(Lawrence, Kansas) – The No. 23 ranked Haskell Indian Nations University women’s basketball team picked up a pair of important road wins over the weekend to improve (19-5) over all and (5-3) in the AIA Conference.

On Friday the Lady Indians traveled to York, Nebraska where they defeated the York Panthers 92-65 and on Saturday they traveled to McPherson, Kansas where the beat Central Christian College 81-49.

In both contests, Haskell transfer sophomore Tyler Sumpter (Paiute) led the Indians in scoring with a 17 point outing versus York and a 16 point game against Central Christian.

Haskell had five players scoring double-digits in the York game, including Sumpter. Keli Warrior  had (14) along with Ember Sloan (13), Cerissa Honena-Reyes (11), Cheyenne Livingston (10), Kortney Meat (8), Brandi Buffalo (6), Arnetia Begay and Sylvania Levier both had (4), Tinaya Murphy (3) and Justina Coriz (2).

Once again, in the game versus Central Christian College, Haskell had all players contribute to the scoring. Kortney Meat had (13), Keli Warrior (11), Brandi Buffalo, Cerissa Honena-Reyes and Cheyenne Livingston all had (9), Ember Sloan and Tinaya Murphy each had (4) and Arnetia Begay, Sylvana Levier, & Justina Coriz had (2).

The Lady Indians will next host Central Christian on February 13th at 3:00 PM CST at Coffin Sports Complex in Lawrence, Kansas.
