Nevaeh Miller (Navajo) Joins the Navajo Tech Lady Skyhawks Basketball program for the 2024-2025 Season

Crownpoint, NM – On April 2, 2024, Nevaeh Miller, a senior at Newcomb High School, committed to the NTU Women’s basketball team for the 2024-2025 season. Before signing, Head Coach Aanor Louis and Athletics Director George LaFrance gave her a campus tour. Her parents, Lady’s Newcomb Head Coach Lawrence Yazzie and Assistant Coach Lars Yazzie, accompanied her during the signing.

Lawrence Yazzie, the Head Coach, was proud of the opportunity that NTU has given Nevaeh. “As a coach for Nevaeh, I am very proud of her. She is making great progress towards her future. I am thrilled and proud of her. She set that goal at the beginning of the season to play at the next level, and she did. I am honored to have coached her and blessed knowing she is on her way to being a strong, honorable woman.”

George LaFrance, Athletics Director for NTU, said, “Signing Nevaeh is a great opportunity for her to further her basketball career at the collegiate level, and that’s what Navajo Technical University is all about – giving opportunities to our student-athletes to reach the sky and beyond. Education is the key for a student-athlete, student first and athlete second, and she is looking forward to a great opportunity. I am grateful for Yazzie’s coaches, who got a chance to mentor and get her this opportunity. Her parents for their support, which is very important, having family support and giving her this opportunity, thank you very much.”

Nevaeh Miller will start her collegiate basketball career at NTU in the fall while pursuing an associate degree in Veterinary Technology. “I chose NTU because it was closer to home; it was a resource my coaches had for me. The signing was very nerve-wracking, fun, and exciting. I expect to keep up with the team of all the new players I will be joining. I should keep up with them.” The Lady Skyhawks will enter their second season next fall and continue to build on the momentum from the last season. Nevaeh will play a vital role in the plan.
