NBA D-League: Ben Strong (Red Lake Nation) Scores 16 Points for Knicks in Loss to Canton Charge

The Canton Charge (27-18) took a step toward clinching a fourth consecutive postseason berth with a 109-91 victory over the Westchester Knicks (10-35) in White Plains on Tuesday night.

Canton’s James Singleton netted a season-best 29 points on 11-of-20 shooting, including 4-of-7 from the three-point line, and 11 boards for his third-straight game with a double-double. In his return after missing the last three contests with a concussion, Arinze Onuaku was right back in form with his 29th double-double after scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 boards in 31 minutes off the bench.

The Charge took the lead for good, 17-16, with 3:44 left in the first quarter and never looked back, building an advantage of as many as 20 in the latter stages of the game. With five games left to play, current top Wild Card placeholders Canton hold a 2.5 game lead over the second Wild Card Iowa Energy heading into their two-game series in Des Moines this weekend.

Chris Crawford contributed 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting and four rebounds in 32 minutes off the bench. Brandon Paul’’s efficient 25 minutes saw him pour in 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting with five rebounds in 25 minutes. Alek Kirk added 12 points and two blocks in 21 minutes. The Charge as a team hit 41-of-75 shots (55 percent).

Darnell Jackson led the Knicks with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds in 44 minutes. Ben Strong (Red Lake Nation) added 16 points, 3 rebounds,  and 3 assists in 37 minutes of play.
