Muscogee Creek Nation to Host WNBA’s Tulsa Shock in Panther Dome

OKMULGEE – The Muscogee (Creek) Nation will sponsor the WNBA franchise Tulsa Shock for an appearance in Okemah, Okla., on Thursday, July 26 for a “Dribble to Stop Diabetes” clinic and Traveling Practice.  All school age youth are invited to attend at no charge.

Former University of Oklahoma sensation and All-American Courtney Paris, along with Shock stars Ivory Latta, Temeka Johnson, Kayla Pederson, Jennifer Lacey, Amber Holt and Glory Johnson, are a few of the star players on Coach Gary Kloppenburg’s 2012 roster. This event will allow spectators to watch the players in a full speed practice session with interaction between the team and the youth.

Also included will be the team’s mascot “Volt” and his Shock Attack team in a slam-dunk show.  Preceding the exhibition, an interactive clinic between the players and spectators will be held. NBA/WNBA FIT, the NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League are teaming up with Sanofi US and the American Diabetes Association in a strategic alliance to create awareness for diabetes prevention.  The effort is to promote the importance of healthy, active lifestyles, as well as diabetes awareness, prevention and management through the campaign, “Dribble to Stop Diabetes”.

An autograph and photograph session will conclude the evenings event at 7:55 p.m.  Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and the clinic will begin at 4 p.m.

All youth are reminded to dress for the occasion and to bring a pair of clean court shoes.
