Mariah Miles set to transfer to Utah State

Mariah Miles, Kiowa tribe, has decided to transfer to Utah State University and re-join former Oral Roberts University head coach Jerry Binkbeiner who is now the head coach for the Utah State Aggies. Miles,  a 2011 graduate of Calumet High School  led her team to 107 victories in four seasons and a Class A State Championship in 2011 her senior year. She was also MVP of the 2011 Class A State Tournament that year and was an All-State selection by the OGBCA and the OCA. She averaged 13.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game as a senior before signing  with the Golden Eagles.

Her Freshman year at ORU Miles saw limited action, Miles played in 12 games and scored seven points and grabbed seven rebounds in 24 minutes of action. Miles shot 28.6% from the floor and 75.0% from the free throw line. She made her collegiate debut against Louisiana Tech on Nov. 19, and collected two rebounds. She scored her first two points and dished two assists on Dec. 3 in a win over Southern Utah.

In speaking with Miles, she wanted to thank everyone for  their support and words of encouragement. Miles also wanted to give special thanks to former Frontier High standout Jenna Plumley, who played collegiality at Oklahoma and Lamar University. Miles said, “Being a native Oklahoma girl, she influenced me for years and even now knowing her personally. She’s given me great advice.”

Utah State finished (21-10) this past season and advanced to the WNIT tournament for the second straight season. They also return nine players from last year’s squad as well as a handful of recruits. Miles will walk on for the Aggies.
