BALTIMORE – 2014 Co-Tewaaraton Trophy recipient Lyle Thompson (Onondaga Nation) has been selected as the 2015 Division I Men’s Preseason Player of the Year, the publication announced on Saturday.

Thompson shared the sport’s highest honor with brother Miles Thompson after earning the top-point scoring season in Division I history in 2014, finishing with 128 points off 51 goals and 77 assists.  His assists total tied the Division I single season record.

Along with sharing the Tewaaraton trophy, Thompson was the 2014 America East Player of the Year, the DI Outstanding Player of the Year, the DI Most Outstanding Attackman and an USILA First Team All-American.

It is the second-straight year that Lacrosse Magazine has chosen Thompson as the Preseason Player of the Year.  In addition, the publication honored Thompson as the 2014 Person of the Year in December.

Just over a week ago, Thompson was the first overall pick in the Major League Lacrosse Draft, selected by the Florida Launch.

Thompson and the Great Danes open the 2015 season on February 21st, taking on Drexel in Philadelphia at 3 p.m.
