Lindy Waters, III, (Kiowa/Cherokee) added 9 points for Cowboys who improve to (9-2) after a 71-59 Win over Tulsa

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Three days after scoring 23 points in a win over then-No. 19 Florida State, Jeffrey Carroll recorded his first double-double of the season, with 14 points and 11 rebounds to help Oklahoma State beat Tulsa, 71-59 Tuesday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Tulsa led for most of the opening half and by as much as eight early on. The Golden Hurricane went up 25-18 when Etou sank two free throws with 3:47 left, but Oklahoma State responded with a 20-5 run over the next five minutes to seize the advantage early in the second half.

The Cowboys opened the second half on a 10-2 run, giving them an eight-point lead after being tied at the break.

Oklahoma State made back-to-back three-pointers in the last couple minutes to extend their four-point lead to 10. In the last 8 minutes of the game, the Cowboys shot 60 percent. They shot 56.3 percent in the second half.

Kendall Smith led OSU in scoring with 16 points along with three assist. Lindy Waters, III, (Kiowa/Cherokee) added 9 points and three assists.

Mitchell Solomon shot 66.7 percent from inside the three-point line. He finished with eight points and five rebounds.

Oklahoma State moves to 9-2 on the year, which matches last year’s 11-game start. This extends the Cowboys’ record against Tulsa to 73-38, including a 41-15 mark in GIA.

The Cowboys host UT-Rio Grande Valley Friday at noon.
