Lily George (Nipissing First Nation) has been named the Most Valuable Player in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey

(FREDERICTON, NB) In her final season as a UNB RED, Lily George had her best season, and for that she’s been rewarded.

George has been named the Most Valuable Player in Atlantic University Sport women’s hockey.

“I’m very proud and grateful to receive this recognition from the AUS,” said George.

The fifth-year forward scored 17 goals and recorded 18 assists for 35 points to win the league scoring race and help UNB to a 21-6-0-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record and second place in the AUS standings.

“I’m so thankful for all the support from my family and my teammates,” added George. “My success couldn’t come without them.”

George also led the league in plus/minus, at an amazing plus-27.

She’s just the second RED to be named conference MVP after Kendra Woodland won the award last season.

“Lily’s dedication to the sport has earned her the well-deserved title of MVP,” said REDS’ head coach Sarah Hilworth. “Her exceptional performance on the ice is a testament to her hard work and skill, inspiring both teammates and coaches alike.”

“I’ve seen Lily’s change over five years and she is one of the most committed student-athletes who has ever pulled on a REDS jersey. We’re so proud of her and everything she’s achieved as a RED.”

George was also named a first-team AUS All-Star, along with teammates Payton Hargreaves and Mackenzie Keenan.
