Lauren Schad (Sioux) has 9 Kills and 6 Blocks for Toreros who Sweep University of San Francisco

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of San Diego women’s volleyball team cruised its way to a 3-0 win over the University of San Francisco Thursday evening in a West Coast Conference match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the 25-19, 25-19, 25-14 win, the Toreros improve to 20-7 overall, and move into sole possession of second place in the WCC at 13-3. With the loss, the Dons fall to 16-13 overall and 3-13 in the WCC.

Lisa Kramer led all players with her match-best 11 kills, while also recording four digs. Jayden Kennedy reached double digit kills for the third consecutive match, as she had 10 on 20 swings, and hit for a .250 clip. Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux) also had a great match, as she recorded nine kills, and had six total blocks, one solo. With the five block assists, Schad is now ninth on the USD single-season block assists list with 97. Kristen Gengenbacher recorded 35 assists, and just missed a double-double with eight digs. Hunter Jennings recorded 11 digs to help lead the USD defense.

As a team, USD hit for a .306 clip, while the Dons hit for a .111 clip. USD recorded 43 kills, while USF just had 25. The Toreros also out blocked the Dons, 9.0-4.0.

For the Dons, Katarina Pilepic led the offense with eight kills, while hitting .080, and she had four digs. Kiara McKibben recorded 13 assists, and she too had four digs.

San Diego will return to action on Saturday, as they host the Santa Clara University Broncos in a 12 p.m. WCC match at the Jenny Craig pavilion.
