Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux) has Game-High 7 Blocks in Toreros 3-0 Sweep of Loyola Marymount University

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Behind the hot hitting of junior outside hitter Lisa Kramer, who had a match-high 18 kills, the University of San Diego women’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Loyola Marymount University Thursday evening in a West Coast Conference match.

With the 25-19, 25-17, 25-12 win, the Toreros improve to 15-6 overall, move to 6-1 in the WCC and have extended their season-high winning streak to six. With the loss, the Lions fall to 14-7 overall, move to 6-3 in the WCC and saw its five-match winning streak come to an end. San Diego also dealt the Lions their first sweep of the season.

Kramer recorded her match-best 18 kills on 36 swings to hit for a .306 clip, and she recorded four blocks. Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux) added in seven kills and had a game-high seven block as well, while both Canace Finely and Jayden Kennedy had six kills apiece. Kristen Gengenbacher recorded 35 assists, while Hunter Jennings recorded 19 digs.

As a team, USD recorded a .278 hitting percentage, while the Lions hit a dismal .019. The Toreros more than doubled the blocks than the Lions at 11.0-5.0, and USD recorded 40 kills to LMU’s 27.

For the lions, no player reached double-digit kills, with Rachelle Suaava contributing a team-best nine on 23 attacks. Hannah Tedrow had 21 assists and three blocks, as the Lions finished with five total team blocks.

The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they head over to Malibu to take on the Waves of Pepperdine University in a WCC match at the Firestone Fieldhouse.
