Lakota Beatty (Caddo/Lakota) Scores 19 Points in Debut with Oral Roberts University

ULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team defeated Rogers State 77-60 Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center in the team’s only exhibition match of the season.

Lakota Beatty (Caddo/Lakota/Gros Ventre) opened the game with back-to-back three pointers for the Golden Eagles and sparked momentum for her team in the opening minutes of the game. The defensive minded Golden Eagles held RSU to a shooting percentage of 41 percent and three-point percentage of 31 percent.

Kaylan Mayberry scored 25 points for the Golden Eagles and distributed the ball to her teammates while recording three assists. Maria Martianez recorded a double-double with 16 ponts and 10 rebounds. She has started every game for ORU since arriving on campus last season as a freshman.

The Hillcats were led by Natasha Kindred who finished with 12 points. Nikola Medoroscikova added nine points and three rebounds for RSU in the loss.

TURNING POINT

ORU closed out RSU in the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles out-scored the Hillcats 17-8 in the fourth quarter.

THE LEADERS

Oral Roberts: Kaylan Mayberry scored 25 points as Lakota Beatty added 19 points and 4 steals.

RSU: Natasha Kindred scored 12 points and four total rebounds.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

– After shooting 31 percent in the first half, both teams shot 61 percent in the second half.

– ORU won the rebounding battle 42-31.

– ORU turned the ball over just 19 times, but forced RSU to turn the ball over 21 times.

– Kaylan Mayberry, Lakota Beatty and Maria Martianez each scored in double figures in today’s game.
