Kobe Buffalomeat (Cheyenne/Choctaw) Adds 14 Points in Baker University’s 93-74 Win over Grand View

DES MOINES, Iowa – Having four players score in double figures, the Baker men’s basketball team was able to pick up a big win over Grand View on Tuesday, 93-74.

Jalen Patterson led the Wildcats in scoring with 20 points, going 9-for-11 from the field. Kobe Buffalomeat (Cheyenne/Choctaw) added a strong 14 points, while Akeen Woods scored 13 points on the night. Justin Batts II was the fourth Wildcat in double figures with 11 points, while also reaching a double-double with 10 assists.

Baker got off to a hot start in the first half, quickly grabbing a 10-point lead in the first five minutes of the game. With Baker leading by eight, the Wildcats went on a 7-0 run to extend their lead to 15 points with 11:14 left in the first half.

Late in the first half, Baker led by 12 points, but the Vikings were able to finish the half on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to seven points by halftime, 47-40.

With the first basket of the second half, Grand View was able to cut the lead to just five, but Baker quickly responded and pushed the game out of reach early. With 3:44 left in the game, Baker reached their largest lead of the game of 20 points. After Grand View cut it back down to 13, Ray Swopes and Coleton Oaks hit three’s to give Baker a 93-74 win.

Baker is now 9-9 on the season and 7-7 in Heart of America play.
