Kevin Hill (Muscogee Creek) Named to Louisville Slugger Division All-American team by Collegiate Baseball

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of South Alabama right-hander Kevin Hill (Muscogee Creek Nation) was named to the Louisville Slugger Division I All-American second team, which was announced by Collegiate Baseball Thursday.

Hill, the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, is the only SBC pitcher represented among the three teams which were selected. He is the first Jaguar pitcher to earn All-American honors since P.J. Walters was a second-team selection by Collegiate Baseball and a third-team selection by Baseball America in 2006.

“Kevin had a phenomenal year,” USA head coach Mark Calvi said. “He is the ultimate competitor and a great teammate who gave us a chance to win every time he took the mound. He is certainly deserving of this recognition, and I couldn’t be more proud of him and the strides he made this season.”

Hill, who completed his redshirt junior season this year, led the SBC in wins (10), ERA (1.73), opposing batting average (.208) and strikeouts (107). He tossed four complete games, including a stretch of four straight against Sun Belt opposition, and recorded two shutouts in 80 2/3 innings pitched. Hill finished a perfect 10-0 in 13 starts, and became the first 10-game winner at USA since D.D. Hanks’ 10 wins in 2010. The right-hander also became the first Jaguar to record 100 or more strikeouts in a season since Walters’ 166 strikeouts in 2006.

Hill becomes the program’s 27th All-American in 51 years of baseball at USA.
