Kali Sargent (Washoe Tribe) completed her third complete game shutout of the year as Nevada took down UNLV, 8-0 in five innings

RENO, Nev. – After a tough loss yesterday evening, the Pack bounced back in run-rule fashion. Nevada took down UNLV, 8-0 in five innings to move to 26-22, 10-10 on the season.

Kali Sargent (Washoe Tribe) and the defense played lights out with the senior recording four strikeouts and responsible for two ground outs in the fifth that held the Rebels at bay. Sargent not only completed her third complete game shutout of the year but gave up just one hit in the contest and retired 12 straight batters from UNLV after the first inning. She is now 6-8 on the season.

Sadaria McAlister was perfect at the plate and in the outfield, going 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs. The team combined for nine hits with six of the nine offensive players recording at least one hit in the game.

The game was quiet, a pitchers dual for the first two and a half innings when the Pack broke it open in the bottom of the third scoring six runs with four of the runs scored with two outs in the inning.

It started when McAlister singled and stole second before Goins joined her at first with no outs. Two outs later, Kwynn Warner drew a walk to load the bases when Danielle Lew singled and Haley Burda singled to score two runs, 2-0, Nevada. Lauren Gutierrez and Sierra Mello both drew walks to plate a third run with the bases loaded still, 4-0, Nevada. A two RBI double from McAlister put the Pack up 6-0 before the inning ended.

In the fourth, the Pack added a single insurance run after Warner knocked a single past the pitcher to score Millwood who had reached after being hit by a pitch. Again in the fifth a single run was plated to take the game, a run-rule victory, 8-0.
