By Ryan Pfeifer, UNCBears.com

GREELEY, Colo. – Another Lawrence, Kansas native will make their way to Greeley in forward Juju Ramirez (Turtle Mountain Chippewa). The 6-8 forward averaged 15.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game his senior season at New Hampton School. He shot 50.4% from the field to help him earn second team All-NEPSAC honors. Ramirez was also a team captain.

Coach Smiley on Juju
We’re really excited to announce the addition of JuJu Ramirez to our 2022-23 roster. JuJu is a perfect fit for how we want to play on the court, and he’s also a perfect fit off the court as a great student that will be a great representative of our UNC campus and Greeley community.

As a player, JuJu’s skill set is built for our system as he’s a great shooter for a big forward, and he’s also very good at posting up mismatches. His overall feel for the game is at a very high level at a young age, and he’s got an extremely high ceiling as he continues to gain experience at this level. JuJu proved himself playing in one of the best high school leagues in the country, the NEPSAC, and he was coached at an extremely high level at New Hampton Prep by Andrew Gale, a program that has sent numerous players on to successful Division I careers.

The addition of JuJu gives us four extremely talented freshmen to continue to build our future around. We’re very fortunate that JuJu and his family committed to the Bears, and we can’t wait to start working with him soon!

Others on Ramirez
“Juju is a high character, high motor kid that competes every single day. He possesses a unique blend of skill and size. His basketball IQ is extremely high, and he has big time upside because of his skill and work ethic. He takes pride in the work that he puts out and I can’t wait to see what his future holds.”
