Jude Schimmel’s Double-Double helps Louisville Rout Old Dominion, 100-46

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Freshman Mariya Moore scored 15 points to help No. 10 Louisville rout Old Dominion 100-46 on Monday night.

Bouncing back from a loss to No. 8 Kentucky, the Cardinals (9-1) shot 52 percent from the field, including 64.3 percent from 3-point range. Louisville led 54-19 at the half and had a season-high 59 rebounds-18 on the offensive end-to the Monarchs’ 30.

Sara Hammond had 14 points, Jude Schimmel (Umatilla) got her first double-double of the season by scoring 12 points and adding 10 assists. Myisha Hines-Allen added 12, Bria Smith and Emmonnie Henderson each had 11 each and Megan Deines finished with 10.

Chelisa Painter and Destinee Young each had eight points for Old Dominion (5-3).

“We played the best I think we’ve played all year,” Louisville coach Jeff Walz said.

The fifth meeting between the two programs – ODU won three of the first four – was tied at 5 before the Cardinals took control with a 17-0 surge.

Louisville’s run was keyed by its dominance on the glass – it grabbed 18 of the game’s first 22 rebounds – and strong outside shooting. The Cardinals hit five of their first seven 3-point attempts while the Monarchs missed their first seven. Moore made back-to-back 3s near the end of the 17-0 run.
