Joba Chamberlain (Winnebago Tribe) getting job done for Cleveland Indians

by Chris Assenheimer

CLEVELAND — Veteran relief pitcher Joba Chamberlain (Winnebago Tribe) continued his sparkling start to the season with another dominant performance Sunday in the series finale against Minnesota.

Chamberlain struck out all four batters he faced to lower his ERA to 0.71 in 12 games of his debut season with the Indians. The 30-year-old right-hander has allowed just one earned run — four hits — and has struck out 13 over 12 1/3 innings.

“Obviously, it’s just continuing to build,” Chamberlain said. “I’m just trying to get early strikes. I think that’s the biggest key, just trying to get strike one and then expanding the zone from there.

“In this game, when you’ve been around a long time, you know what they want to do and they have an idea of what you want to do, so it’s just a game of adjustments, and you try to make the adjustments throughout the at-bat.”
