It was a Homecoming game for Jayhawks’ Gavin Potter (Mvskoke) versus Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, OK- Freshman Kansas Linebacker Gavin Potter (Mvskoke Creek), of Broken Arrow, OK, played his first ever college game in his home state on Saturday, as his Jayhawks took on Oklahoma State.

Potter would once again start in place of Dru Prox, who has been out since the West Virginia game on September 21st, with a shoulder injury.

Potter recorded four tackles and the Jayhawks fell to Oklahoma State, 31-13. The 31 points given up was the lowest amount by the Kansas defense since the matchup against West Virginia.

The game not only served as a homecoming for Potter, but also Head Coach Les Miles, Defensive Back Kyle Mayberry and several others. Miles was the head man at Oklahoma State from 2001-2004 and it was the first game he had coached in Stillwater since he left.

Mayberry, a Tulsa, OK native, said that he told Gavin that it felt good to be home. Mayberry added, “We were excited about this game, being only 45 minutes from home. It was a real big deal for us. I know he had a lot of family at the game and I had a whole lot of family at the game.”

Up next for Potter and the Jayhawks is a trip to Ames, IA on Saturday, November 23rd, to take on Iowa State at 11am.
