by DURANGO, Colo. – Hilda Garcia (Navajo) who grew up in Ignacio and played at Durango High School, will transfer back to the area to play for the Fort Lewis College women’s basketball team after spending last year at Otero Junior College.
“We are excited to get a local player back to Durango,” Head Coach Jason Flores said. “Hilda improved a lot last year and we look forward to her being a dynamic wing player for us down the road.”
During her last year with the Demons, Garcia played in 19 games and averaged 11.6 points, 1.4 assists, 1.9 steals and grabbed 3.4 rebounds per game. The 5-foot-10 guard saw significant action in her one season at Otero playing in 25 games and averaged 10 points, shot over 37 percent from the floor, made nearly 90 percent (89.4) at the foul line and also added 3.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
