Haskell Indian Nations University’s Chris Humetewa and Deanna Teller recognized as Continental Athletic Conference Runners of the Week

(Lawrence, Kansas) – Haskell Indian Nations University freshman cross country runners Chris Humetewa and Deanna Teller have been recognized as the Continental Athletic Conference Runner of the Week honorees for their standout performances in last Saturday’s Missouri Southern Stampede event.

This was the first conference honors for both runners.

Humetewa, the men’s honoree, placed 25th out of 136 runners with a time of 27:32.36 in the 8-kilometer race. This is the first honor for the Rio Rancho, New Mexico native.

Teller, the women’s award winner, had a time of 21:05 in the 5-kilometer race. The Blue Gap, Arizona, native placed 28th out of the 62 runners in the event.

The Missouri Southern Stampede was the first of four competitions for Haskell Indian Nations this fall. The Lawrence, Kansas-based university will host the 2021 Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on November 6.
