Haskell Indian Nations’ Kasey Rice (Pawnee) Named A.I.I. Conference Women’s Basketball Player Of The Week

Strong shooting and consistent scoring performances carried Haskell Indian Nations University (Kan.) forward Kasey Rice (Pawnee) to earn the Association of Independent Institutions first Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award for the 2019 calendar year.

Rice scored 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including making all three 3-point field goal attempts, in a 71-63 win against Park University (Mo.) on Jan. 3.

She ended 2018 by scoring a team-high 15 points in an 82-59 victory against McPherson College (Kan.) on Dec. 18 after having 11 points and eight rebounds in an 81-72 victory against Central Methodist University (Mo.) on Dec. 15. Six steals came in a 69-64 win against Briar Cliff University (Iowa) on Dec. 30.

The 6-foot freshman averaged 13.5 points in four games during the holiday season.

With a 14-4 record, Haskell Indian Nations has been receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll.
